The Arya Stark & Lyanna Stark THEORY - Game of Thrones Season 8 (End Game Theory)

0 ratings | 344848 views
Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 Theory Video. In this video I talk about Arya Stark & Lyanna Stark's Connection, and how this relates to Arya Stark's End Game. These two characters aren't just related, but they are actually very similar in many ways. In fact, GRRM intended on having their stories end almost the same exact way, according to his original outline that was released just a few years ago. There has been some changes to that outline since then, but Arya's connection with Lyanna has not changed that much. Although they took different paths, they may lead to the same place when it's all said and done. Ned Stark feared for Arya's safety because he knew she had 'The Wolf Blood' that Lyanna and Brandon Stark had. If we take a closer look at these characters, we may be able to figure out how Arya Stark's story will end. Could she go out at a very young age as Lyanna did? Or can she find love, and perhaps end up with Gendry like many fans are hoping? Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching! You ignored the possibility the end of asoiaf might not be the end of the individual stories of each character. Some may still reappear or be the hero of other stories set after this series end

Arya is obviously not interested in men.... she will end up going out west and there is a spin off in the works... the question is who is going with her...
sumit kumar (16 days ago)
Brother according to me Arya can marry with John snow because they are so close and he is not the brother of her. Second thing is lyna stark also did the same married with targerian. Gandy ... No way bro. Robert told about Sansa stark to join the house. Let's see ..... Denerys targerian is father's sister of Jon how both can marry. Lay down doesn't mean such.

That last moment with Ramsey made me realize that, while Sam may be GRRM if he were to live in this world, Ramsey is him as he writes.

I thought she wanted to know what was beyond the edge of the known world? I can see her leaving and exploring the uncharted world after the wars are over.....

I ship Arya/Gendry for the exact reasons you listed. Also, if he is legitimized, he would not treat her like a normal noble/lord treats a lady. He wouldn't expect her to act like her mother or Sansa. I feel like Gendry would rather Arya be herself.

People change as they get older. Things that you thought would be awesome when you were that young could end up being completely abhorrent as you grow older. I could see her finishing off her list and then settling down but never completely lowering her guard. I think she would be an awesome queen.

She'll die- cuz the story can't have a happy ending. That'd be too much like right, n grrm is a dark, fat bastard...
Stan Skrzypkowski (28 days ago)
Just an idiot here, but what if this whole season, setting up the love story for j and d was a plot device for the arya and j love that turns dani into what cerci has now become?
Rob Phillips (28 days ago)
Arya will not settle down - and probably wont die young either. When this story is over, Arya will likely start a new one. She wants to see whats west of westeros. She's not going to end up with Gendry... it's not her. She'll stick around long enough to see Cersei dead and know her family has a future - then she's off to start a new story.
Kaitlin Latter (28 days ago)
What if Dany dies in childbirth and Sansa and Jon in one battle or another? What if Jon gives his child to Arya and Gendry to raise?
David Allen (29 days ago)
More foreshadowing for the Arya/Gendry link...which is from the books, too. The conversation between Robert and Ned in the cyrpts "you have a daughter, I have a son; we'll join our houses" or something to that effect. They were just talking about the wrong kids.
David Allen (29 days ago)
never mind...you address this later in your video!

Arya stark one time in the show told gendry that she could be his family.. i think thats the forshadowing of these two having a family..
ilikepain17 (1 month ago)
I agree with your foreshadowing about arya's survival, i also am a believer in another one of yourtheories about their fate being connected to the fate of their direwolves! So far all stark children have been killed by the ones that killed their direwolves, robb(freys, lannisters), rickon(umbers, boltons) sansa i think will sacrifice herself to lannisters (who killed her direwolf) and arya will become the lady of winterfell ironically thru sansa's bravery.
dentistguba (1 month ago)
bit odd to say lyanna being wild led her to an early grave, died in childbirth which is what Ned wants Arya to risk.

Just realized watching season 3 again...Arya had her first game of faces when she killed that guy who bragged about putting the wolf head on Rob's body...she just didn't know it.

I remember someone commenting on a video how he would like Arya’s story to end: Arya is taking a ship to the west of Westeros, when the captain of the ship turns around she see its Syrio Forel and he says “Now a new dance begins, the water dance”
aileenpi73 (1 month ago)
So the prediction for Arya is either she dies young or lives and stays alone or lives and falls in love. Is it me, or aren't those literally all the possibilities for pretty much anyone?

To anyone saying that arya having a family with gendry wouldn't happen because being a lady to a lord "just isn't her". You're right on one front, wrong on another. That's not her. She's not any highborn lady and doesn't act like one. Gendry isn't a highborn lord, hes a bastard that might be legitimized if he lives. He wasn't raised a lord, and doesn't act like one. Hes a straight shooter that steps up and does what he has to, but not a typical "lord". He first knew arya as "arry". Even if she fell in love and married him, hed probably never expect her to be a typical lady of a castle, and most likely wouldn't want her to be that anyway. With gendry, I doubt she'd have to choose. Hed want to marry lady Arya as she is, not as everyone thinks a lady should be. She could have sons, but she probably help teach them swordsmanship and horse riding.

I think Ned was right in saying one day she will have a family. We'll see when her and Gendry meet this next season. I think he is the only person that could catch her eyes.

The last shot of Arya should be of her stood on the spot where her dad died, covered in blood holding the faces of Cersei & the mountain in either hand, badass Arya

i still say sansa is gonna fall for gendry... but i like these theories to
russell strongman (1 month ago)
Abit late in response I know. But what if she does make it through the long night in the end (that's if she has already killed Cerci by now) and instead of her ending up with gendry maybe she will get to travel as far east as the eye can see which was what she wished for other then finishing her list. Possible idea for an adaptation for another series "cough" "cough"!
James Quinn (1 month ago)
Similar doesn't translate into identical. I couldn't think of a sadder ending for a girl who became a deadly warrior than brood mare. Especially if that's what kills her. Getting laid and leaving the occasional bastard with some down to earth peasants maybe that's more Arya:). Perhaps dropping her bastards at Winterfell? Loving memory of John. The idea that every Tom Boy grows into your generic woman is a false narrative. Also even Ned said there were degrees of Wolfs Blood.... So maybe Aeya has much more.

All I care about is at minimum Arya being the Brienne/Lady Mormont of the Starks. Bringing up Brienne, Tormund+Brienne all the way. May all those find someone that looks at them the way Tormund looks at Brienne.

I hope she does fall in love with Gendry. It’s about time she experiences something good in her life.
Karideplov (1 month ago)
We always hear that Robert was in love with Lyanna however we never heard if Lyanna it was actually in love with Robert before meeting Rhegar or if that was just an arranged marriage/relationship. Maybe Lyanna never wanted to marry or ever fell in love until she met rhegar.
P-Duck (1 month ago)
In the show she told Lady Crane that she wanted to know what was West of Westeros, so I think her story will wrap up with her leaving on her own as an explorer and rogue Faceless One.
David Spillman (2 months ago)
Roses aren't the only things which bloom. It doesn't have do be a "become a baby machine or die alone" dichotomy. She could marry Gendry and become a freelance assassin, for example.

If she lives, I think she would never be able to settle down and will go back to the Faceless Men.

I think "Gendrya" might be a possibility when they were roaming about together, I thought I saw the beginnings of sparks between them. Who knows what will happen if they meet up again at Winterfell. Knowing GRRM, Arya and Gentry will meet up at Winterfell and fall in love...then Gentry will die tragically fighting White walkers.
Leslie Shevalier (2 months ago)
Leanna didn't have a sword and mad skills, and we don't know if Benjun can be killed by wights, so he may be 'alive'... If something happens to Dany, Arya could love no one more than she loves Jon. If Arya dies there will be riots in the streets.
Nancy-Jo Nunez (2 months ago)
I hope she survives to the end. Arya is one of my favorite characters. I’d like her to end up with Gendry if anyone at all.

I think she will finish her list and "die" and become the girl of the Faceless.

I'm glad you didn't feel the need to repeat the same things, multiple times, to stretch out the video. Also, get over yourself with thinking you're the first to theorise Arya and Gendry would be a thing. I'm pretty sure 90% of people that watched the show thought the same thing.

Don't want the girls die ! She was a kid, she changes along the way. When she grows up and can still be on love so can still realize to settle down.
Tawny Kempf (2 months ago)
Arya has made it clear from the beginning that getting married "is not her." Why, after everything she has been through, would she succumb to being a submissive wife and start a family? If Arya has learned ANYTHING in her journey, it is understanding her independence and knowing to trust herself and herself alone. I foresee her being a famous assassin until her death!

I'm probably the only guy who goes through old TT videos and comments on them but i would love to see the Arya + Gendry shippers facial expressions when Arya and Gendry don't get together as that seems a tad too happy for a show like GoT
Kelly McCarthy (2 months ago)
Just watched the video. As usual it's great. Arya's training with the Faceless Men has desensitized her emotions somewhat like Bran but not as drastic. The minute they told her to get rid of Needle and she hid it I knew she would take her name back. But her training as a Faceless Man is intensive. She took back her name and killed the Waif and went back to Westeros. I noticed as Season 7 went on we got to see a bit more of Arya Stark. If she's going to be involved in an intimate relationship with Gendry she may not necessarily marry him. She may help him become a Lord they may even live together in Storms End if they both make it but not necessarily marry. Dany wants to break the wheel in her ruling of Westeros and even if she dies Jon would most likely become King. When your brother and yes I know they're cousins but they will always consider each siblings is King he would legitimize her children no problem.

There's a HUGE difference between Lyanna Stark and Arya Stark... Arya Stark is a Faceless MAN... Lyanna wasn't any kind of fighter... She was good at somethings... but she HUGE difference
Matt (1 month ago)
Its believed that Lyanna jousted at the tournament of Harrenhall as an unknown walkin knight who defeated 3 knights. So kinda a fighter.

She doesn't say that she doesn't want to get married and have kids.... when she says that that's not for her then it's not her life I think she means being married off to someone and just being a lady in a castle...

Am I the only one who thinks Arya is gay? Or even possibly asexual? I just can’t imagine her like that.
Dream Weaver (2 months ago)
I think that having Arya repeating her aunt's life and choices would be, well, repetitive. I think she will live the fierce, independant life her aunt never could. Once the war is over and the dust settles maybe she will travel around the world, perhaps with Gendry at her side or perhaps by herself. I guess the biggest fear I have regarding her is that The God of Many Faces decides to claim her, this is a George RR Martin story after all. But I hope she gets her happy ending, her revenge, maybe Gendry and above al else a life of adventure.

I have been toying with the idea that Gendry is actually Robert and Cersi's son.
dardell2001 (2 months ago)
GRRM said the end would be bittersweet. Dany dies in childbirth, Jon dies in battle. Arya raises their child who will one day be king or queen of the 7 kingdoms. Jon and Dany got married so the child is the legitimate ruler.

Is it just me or Arya looks like a 12 year old..? Hard for me to even consider her an adult.

Gendry and Arya would be a good match.

I think Arya will survive an maybe get married or become a knight and i think Cersei will die giving birth like her mother or she will end up giving birth to an imp and try to kill herself, jamie an the baby cuz the baby would remind of her brother Tyrion
RainbowEagle (2 months ago)
Arya getting married would be a fate worse than death. I don't know what the show idiots are doing, but I don't think George R R Martin would do that.

Do you think Arya can still carry children after being stabbed in the stomach like she was??? I mean it was mid way so ovaries prob. ok but thats the uterus area too??? 😰😰 I sure hope she can !!!

Arya will 100% be kings guard to Dany and Brienne of Tarth will give her that sword.
paula barra (2 months ago)
Arya is the perfect example of a character that will seriously will like to find the producers and directors of the show and punch them in the face, because they didn’t portrait the amazing character Martin wrote in the books. I do belief is a foreshadowing what Ned said. I hate that there is so little of Arya depth show in the tv show compare to books.
Garden Rose (3 months ago)
I have to be the only one who cannot stand Gendrya. I mean, I swear the Gendrya shippers take things out of context because of Gendrya in the books. The show =/= the books and I really didn't see anything between them in the show that said romance in the making. Gendry was like a big brother figure to her, and Arya cared for Gendry, she was willing to be family to him, and you know, Arya just lost her dad, & doesn't know what's happened to the rest of her family. But did anyone stop to think maybe Arya was getting attached to Gendry because they both essentially had no family and were on the run from the life they'd known? And because Gendry reminds her of her older brothers who she could depend on? People bond in those types of situations, does not make it romantic. Gendry said she would be "his lady" not his family. How does anyone get "omg romantic!" From that? He literally said she wouldn't be his family (which is exactly what she would be if she were "his lady" in the sense Gendrya is speaking of). But no, it was not in a romantic sense at all. Gendry is a bastard, a lowborn and Arya is a high born from a noble family. He simply meant they'd never be considered friends, romantic interests or anything other than a peasant boy hanging around a highborn lady. He'd never be considered her family in the eyes of society.
I just thought if something while watching this. So when Ned tells her that she will marry a high lord and have sons that will become knights and princes. And she says “that’s not me”. Could also be foreshadowing the fact that Arya is dead as we have seen with the theory of her being killed just after the house of black and white. When she leads the wraith into the ally. We do not see the fight. How do we know for sure that that is in fact the real Arya??? Mind is racing. If u don’t get it, reply and I will explain.
Martha Wilder (3 months ago)
I don't think so. in the beginning, they said that the fate of each stark children is tied to their dire wolfs. Arya's and Jons are still around. We even see Nymeria have a family in season 7. Gendry is handsome But I think it might be a surprise who falls for whom.
Golbon Mol (3 months ago)
Why should she not become Nymeria - the late female leader of Dorne (was it Dorne?)- and why should she settle down? Like she could just live a peaceful life by her own independently? Or become an army general, or rule a kingdom? She could fall in love but that shouldn't mean "settling" and ruling a castle. Did any of the men who married or fell in love settle? Robert blew up a an entire world for her love, why should anyone in love or, gorwn up and all settle? You are also making assumptions about the blossoming of womanhood - how do you think periods or becoming more beautiful really change you? They don't! Is Brienne, a grown-up woman who has fallen in love in the course of the show at leas t a couple times less of a warrior? Does she look like she will ever settle down? I was one of those tomboys, and I still am, I am much more womanly as I was as a child and, I did get my period early on but it never changed a thing about my characteristics. I never seem to have lost my "wolf blood" or whatever that is that makes you lust wilderness. I am not trying to say I know better than you do about the show or the books, but I do know a thing or two about being a free woman. Let's put it this way; She doesn't have to die young becoz her lord father unlike Lyanna's father did allow a sword in her hand. And she sticks them with the pointy end.
Ale G (3 months ago)
Actually, Ned said "you will marry a king" in the book, HBO changed it for a "high lord". And I don't agree with Jon and Arya's thoughts about each other not being sexual. Jon even compares Ygritte's body with Arya. But TV show went on a different path
Zero Noctis (3 months ago)
I think tragedy isn't how the story will end, a bittersweet ending would be were nothing gets resolved entirely but the world keeps spining. As this pertains to Arya I think she has no future with Gendry nor do I think she will be 12 feet under by the end of GoT. She will become the Nights Queen and bitchslap the king back to his Ice Castle and she will have half human half icicle children.
monique vernier (3 months ago)
Are we forgetting the fact that she has become a true assassin, not trusting anyone. Wouldn't it be way too traditionnal
Annette M. (3 months ago)
It's possible that Arya's story could include such a radical change in direction in the books, but I don't think there's enough time for that in the show. I do think Gendry is back for a good reason though, and if he were to marry a Stark it would be Sansa. Arya may have had a crush on Gendry years ago but he didn't reciprocate. In fact, he rejected her! As for settling down, while this is fiction I still can't imagine a young woman who has experienced as much loss and trauma as Arya ever truly giving her heart away to anyone but Jon! And since he's her cousin and not her brother afterall... ;) GRRM does like to lead us on Shaggy Dog chases too, so it's hard for me to feel any certainty about predictions, but dying in battle or sailing west seem Arya's most likely options.

Somehow it will come to light that Gendry is the dark haired son of Robert and Cersei. He would not need to be legitimized by anyone. Arya and he have feelings for each other including respect. They deserves happiness.

No offence but it's 2.0 not 2.o As in zero the number not oh the letter, but great video regardless. I personally hope arya will settle with gendry.
David L. (3 months ago)
I believe she will marry and live on, simply because the writers and directors have made it clear that she is the best survivor amongst all of the Starks, and nearly all of the characters. However, I highly doubt she will ever settle down, as the show has been not only clear, but emphasizing her psyche, basically solidifying her legacy as a great assassin and warrior of the Stark family. Everything from S1 to S7 sets her up to survive and become a "legend." All of her kills, what she did to the Freys, her assumed training with Brianne, adventures with The Hound, becoming a Faceless Man in Bravos, her family ties, surviving on her own as a young child to becoming the greatest assassin on the show. She won't die.
Maria Jose da Cunha (3 months ago)
Great video!! I don’t know how it would/could end but I know how I would like for it to: Gendry is named the head of House Baratheon (as he is the last one alive) , once the war ends they realize is not smart to have one king for seven kingdoms so they dived it in three: 1- The North - with Sansa as queen (which she kind of already is so...) 2- The Targaryen house - with Daenerys and Jon as queen and king 3- Kings Landing - with Gendry and Arya as king and queen (Arya would never be a "normal" woman so as queen she can do as she pleases)
DeityFree Dee (3 months ago)
Seriously? You think if a woman in this world doesn’t want to be a wife or mother the only other option is death???
DeityFree Dee (3 months ago)
I will be incredibly pissed if she dies. Why can’t she just continue being an assassin?
