The Arya Stark & Lyanna Stark THEORY - Game of Thrones Season 8 (End Game Theory)

0 ratings | 257985 views
Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 Theory Video. In this video I talk about Arya Stark & Lyanna Stark's Connection, and how this relates to Arya Stark's End Game. These two characters aren't just related, but they are actually very similar in many ways. In fact, GRRM intended on having their stories end almost the same exact way, according to his original outline that was released just a few years ago. There has been some changes to that outline since then, but Arya's connection with Lyanna has not changed that much. Although they took different paths, they may lead to the same place when it's all said and done. Ned Stark feared for Arya's safety because he knew she had 'The Wolf Blood' that Lyanna and Brandon Stark had. If we take a closer look at these characters, we may be able to figure out how Arya Stark's story will end. Could she go out at a very young age as Lyanna did? Or can she find love, and perhaps end up with Gendry like many fans are hoping? Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching! Arya getting married would be a fate worse than death. I don't know what the show idiots are doing, but I don't think George R R Martin would do that.
Tiffany Oliver (23 hours ago)
Do you think Arya can still carry children after being stabbed in the stomach like she was??? I mean it was mid way so ovaries prob. ok but thats the uterus area too??? 😰😰 I sure hope she can !!!
Ts0usermax (1 day ago)
Arya will 100% be kings guard to Dany and Brienne of Tarth will give her that sword.

Arya is the perfect example of a character that will seriously will like to find the producers and directors of the show and punch them in the face, because they didn’t portrait the amazing character Martin wrote in the books. I do belief is a foreshadowing what Ned said. I hate that there is so little of Arya depth show in the tv show compare to books.

I have to be the only one who cannot stand Gendrya. I mean, I swear the Gendrya shippers take things out of context because of Gendrya in the books. The show =/= the books and I really didn't see anything between them in the show that said romance in the making. Gendry was like a big brother figure to her, and Arya cared for Gendry, she was willing to be family to him, and you know, Arya just lost her dad, & doesn't know what's happened to the rest of her family. But did anyone stop to think maybe Arya was getting attached to Gendry because they both essentially had no family and were on the run from the life they'd known? And because Gendry reminds her of her older brothers who she could depend on? People bond in those types of situations, does not make it romantic. Gendry said she would be "his lady" not his family. How does anyone get "omg romantic!" From that? He literally said she wouldn't be his family (which is exactly what she would be if she were "his lady" in the sense Gendrya is speaking of). But no, it was not in a romantic sense at all. Gendry is a bastard, a lowborn and Arya is a high born from a noble family. He simply meant they'd never be considered friends, romantic interests or anything other than a peasant boy hanging around a highborn lady. He'd never be considered her family in the eyes of society.
I just thought if something while watching this. So when Ned tells her that she will marry a high lord and have sons that will become knights and princes. And she says “that’s not me”. Could also be foreshadowing the fact that Arya is dead as we have seen with the theory of her being killed just after the house of black and white. When she leads the wraith into the ally. We do not see the fight. How do we know for sure that that is in fact the real Arya??? Mind is racing. If u don’t get it, reply and I will explain.

I don't think so. in the beginning, they said that the fate of each stark children is tied to their dire wolfs. Arya's and Jons are still around. We even see Nymeria have a family in season 7. Gendry is handsome But I think it might be a surprise who falls for whom.
Golbon Mol (4 days ago)
Why should she not become Nymeria - the late female leader of Dorne (was it Dorne?)- and why should she settle down? Like she could just live a peaceful life by her own independently? Or become an army general, or rule a kingdom? She could fall in love but that shouldn't mean "settling" and ruling a castle. Did any of the men who married or fell in love settle? Robert blew up a an entire world for her love, why should anyone in love or, gorwn up and all settle? You are also making assumptions about the blossoming of womanhood - how do you think periods or becoming more beautiful really change you? They don't! Is Brienne, a grown-up woman who has fallen in love in the course of the show at leas t a couple times less of a warrior? Does she look like she will ever settle down? I was one of those tomboys, and I still am, I am much more womanly as I was as a child and, I did get my period early on but it never changed a thing about my characteristics. I never seem to have lost my "wolf blood" or whatever that is that makes you lust wilderness. I am not trying to say I know better than you do about the show or the books, but I do know a thing or two about being a free woman. Let's put it this way; She doesn't have to die young becoz her lord father unlike Lyanna's father did allow a sword in her hand. And she sticks them with the pointy end.
Ale G (4 days ago)
Actually, Ned said "you will marry a king" in the book, HBO changed it for a "high lord". And I don't agree with Jon and Arya's thoughts about each other not being sexual. Jon even compares Ygritte's body with Arya. But TV show went on a different path
Zero Noctis (5 days ago)
I think tragedy isn't how the story will end, a bittersweet ending would be were nothing gets resolved entirely but the world keeps spining. As this pertains to Arya I think she has no future with Gendry nor do I think she will be 12 feet under by the end of GoT. She will become the Nights Queen and bitchslap the king back to his Ice Castle and she will have half human half icicle children.
monique vernier (5 days ago)
Are we forgetting the fact that she has become a true assassin, not trusting anyone. Wouldn't it be way too traditionnal
Annette M. (6 days ago)
It's possible that Arya's story could include such a radical change in direction in the books, but I don't think there's enough time for that in the show. I do think Gendry is back for a good reason though, and if he were to marry a Stark it would be Sansa. Arya may have had a crush on Gendry years ago but he didn't reciprocate. In fact, he rejected her! As for settling down, while this is fiction I still can't imagine a young woman who has experienced as much loss and trauma as Arya ever truly giving her heart away to anyone but Jon! And since he's her cousin and not her brother afterall... ;) GRRM does like to lead us on Shaggy Dog chases too, so it's hard for me to feel any certainty about predictions, but dying in battle or sailing west seem Arya's most likely options.

I hope she ends up with hotpie
William Beumel (6 days ago)
"The pack survives" I think it's easy to imagine Arya seeing the necessity of having her own pack, meaning not just family by her side but propagating her own pack. I don't think she will in any way "settle down" to play lord and lady, in that sense she would still be true in her "that's not me" denial.. maybe a scene where it's revealed Nymeria is pregnant.

Arya and Gendry will be together at the end of the story and finally a baratheon and a stark will marry...
Tiffany McCarty (9 days ago)
Somehow it will come to light that Gendry is the dark haired son of Robert and Cersei. He would not need to be legitimized by anyone. Arya and he have feelings for each other including respect. They deserves happiness.

Ramsay said that the story doesn't have a happy ending, sandor clegane said life isn't like a song, but the book series is called a song of ice and fire.

No offence but it's 2.0 not 2.o As in zero the number not oh the letter, but great video regardless. I personally hope arya will settle with gendry.
David L. (12 days ago)
I believe she will marry and live on, simply because the writers and directors have made it clear that she is the best survivor amongst all of the Starks, and nearly all of the characters. However, I highly doubt she will ever settle down, as the show has been not only clear, but emphasizing her psyche, basically solidifying her legacy as a great assassin and warrior of the Stark family. Everything from S1 to S7 sets her up to survive and become a "legend." All of her kills, what she did to the Freys, her assumed training with Brianne, adventures with The Hound, becoming a Faceless Man in Bravos, her family ties, surviving on her own as a young child to becoming the greatest assassin on the show. She won't die.
Maria Jose da Cunha (13 days ago)
Great video!! I don’t know how it would/could end but I know how I would like for it to: Gendry is named the head of House Baratheon (as he is the last one alive) , once the war ends they realize is not smart to have one king for seven kingdoms so they dived it in three: 1- The North - with Sansa as queen (which she kind of already is so...) 2- The Targaryen house - with Daenerys and Jon as queen and king 3- Kings Landing - with Gendry and Arya as king and queen (Arya would never be a "normal" woman so as queen she can do as she pleases)
DeityFree Dee (14 days ago)
Seriously? You think if a woman in this world doesn’t want to be a wife or mother the only other option is death???
DeityFree Dee (14 days ago)
I will be incredibly pissed if she dies. Why can’t she just continue being an assassin?
Julie Whitney (14 days ago)
I don't think Arya will die. She's so precious and the fans really like her. Her character serves an important role. She provides a ray of light in an otherwise very dark show. If her life is cut short, it could make a lot of fans stop watching. Just like when they killed Jon Snow, so many fans said they were done with the show that the show runners leaked that he would be alive again in the coming season.
brea66 (14 days ago)
Love this commentary lol
I see three possible endings for Arya's storyline. 1) Marriage to Gendry. Arya and Gendry have a relationship. She told him they were family; he said she would be his Lady. And Robert Baratheon did say that his son would marry Ned's daughter. 2) She will travel West of Westeros, leaving a war-ravaged land behind. She said this once when she was in Essos, and it would reflect the ending of the LotR, which is one of GRRM's influences, in which several heroes leave Middle-Earth for the West because they can no longer live in the land they have saved. 3) She dies. Many of the main characters' fates are hinted at in their first chapters in GoT. In Arya's first chapter, Jon says, "You'll be sewing all through winter. When the Spring thaw comes, they will find your body with a needle still locked tight between your frozen fingers." At the time, Jon was speaking of Septa Mordane's sewing needles, but we know now her Needle is her sword. I am afraid this may foretell her ultimate fate in the series.

Doubt it to be honest .... when arya was reunited with her dire wolf in last season she 're confirms the notion "It's just not you " and let's nymeria run free with the super pack . Arya has always been a warrior . To be married and settled down just isn't in her nature .
Archer (16 days ago)
Whether in the books or on the show, I have never thought that Gendry was worthy of Arya. She deserves better.
Melisa Bloodworth (18 days ago)
I love the idea of Gendry and Arya marrying and joining their lives. I think it would be bringing part of the story full circle. I think they are perfectly matched in she is excellent at sword work and Gendry would support her by keeping her armed! Lol

I just hope she doesn't die. But I also hope that if she stays alive, she'll stop being a psychopathic killer. maybe now that she'll reunite with every single one of her remaining family (and possibly after cersei dies in s8, which I think she will) she'll stop being so vengeful and cold.
Yuriy Maystrenko (23 days ago)
Her relationship with John showed us that she don’t care about “bastard thing” she’s above that. So why not she foul in love with other bastard? This way we will see “Liana” life if she didn’t foul in love in Targaryen prince. Good anding become lady Baratheon(there is no other Baratheons there isn it? Only Bastsrds)

Existential Crisis01 (1 month ago)
I think it doesn’t make sense for Arya’s story for her to die. She’s the survivor. I think she should soften and reconnect with her morals a little, but not be a typical lady, maybe marry for political reasons, maybe even love, but never be a lady. If she just becomes a Lady then it defeats the significance of everything she went through, to just have kids and settle down
Sara Oversteyns (1 month ago)
Ok this is great and everything, cool theory, but do you seriously think that girls change completely when they get their fist period?? Especially a girl like Arya.
Dierk Niessen (1 month ago)
Dierk Niessen, I do find your thoughts quite interesting. When watching all seven seasons, several times closely, every time I was emotionally turned inside out seeing the encounter Arya with her former "very close friend" Amerya, now being the head wolve of a wolves pack. Both characters are bound and part of the rough and tough conditions of the North. Amerya, suddenly being ripped apart from her "friend" for being loyal to thebone, kept her strong, magical bond with Arya over quite a period of time. It is definitely unlikely that they will not meet again in the future. The north is much more the home toArya. Her roots are much stronger then for instance her sister "Sansa's roots who had little concern for her home, when her beloved Geoffrey came into her life.Only Arya where able, with her razor- sharp mind, to put together bits and pieces of past actions. She is not blinded by "nice things". I guess the relationship between Arya and Amerya is still going to play a leading role in theseries to come.

Arya fall in love with Gendry will be sweet!
spirittammyk (1 month ago)
But I do like the summary that Arya is unconsciously following her Aunt Lyanna's footsteps. Remember, Robert was able to take the throne because he has Targaryen blood in his veins as well, and Arya falling in love and marrying Gendry will also be similar to Lyanna falling in love and marrying Raegar, since Gendy will have Targaryen blood in his veins. And that Targaryen blood could be what helps Daenerys to legitimize Gendry's birth right.
spirittammyk (1 month ago)
Just because someone marry's doesn't mean they will settle down. Arya is one of those characters that break the boundaries. I can see her marry Gendry and they become a traveling family leading the brotherhood along side The Hound, Tormund and Brienne.

Arya will find loved just not with Gendry Gendry will end up with Sansa. Arya if she survives. finds love in a new character. someone who shares her love of travel. and wishes to go further west than anyone else ever has. perhaps a wildling like the son of their leader. Sansa, deanery's convince Jon that a wedding most take place to solidify the wildlings place as equals. as Jon is against Arya marrying. middle of season in winterfell before it falls a wedding of the ages Arya marries a wildling. bran discovers Deanerys pregnant. and Sansa thinking she will never find love. finds it in Gendry as Gendry sees Arya as too young and more as a kid sister her has to look at for much like Jon used to look at her.

"What's west of Westeros?" She'll go adventuring for sure.
Vann D. (1 month ago)
Arya said "That's not me" when her father said she'd marry a lord and have knights and ladies for children. First, it's not her, doubly because, she's like Lyanna, and Lyanna married a prince. Arya is destined to be a queen via Gendry and even if she didn't fully realize it as a child, she still spoke as if she knew. And GoT timelines aren't linear, as the Hold the Door scene showed us, although many things happen in repeating cycles.
Harry Fuller (1 month ago)
wow, Talking Thrones the clips your showed at the beginning made me realise the relation between the flashback and season 1 of the stark family starting off together and through time the change so dramatically ;o
dēaþ (1 month ago)
I hope Arya saws Sansa's head off with her Valyrian dagger. Sansa hoped Jon would die at the Battle of the Bastards so she could rule the North. It's why she didn't tell Jon about the Vale Knights. She hoped that by the time she came to the rescue, there'd be nothing left to do but roll over Ramsay's tired army with thousands of the finest mounted knights in Westeros.
I think Arya will go into battle for the North an she will also be happy for Jon an Daenarys , But I'd luv to see her an Gendry together an live their life out at Stormsend as Jon or Daenarys may make him a Barathian legalized
Elyn Shadow (1 month ago)
Oh gosh, if someone needs to go West, let's say Nymeria and Ghost move to Asshai and breed with the shadow direwolves overthere. I think Arya will just stay in Westeros and marry Gendry... and she will become the lady of Storms end, it seems a good place for her.

If we all had to live by the plans we made when we were nine we’d be screwed. When I was nine I wanted to be a pioneer doctor. In 2018 that’s not a thing, AND I’ve found that I am pretty crappy with medical messes. We would have a lot of astronauts and no accountants, and quite a few superheroes. Growing up changes your priorities, or tempers them into something new.

I have another theory as to why she responded to her father that way. I don't think she is opposed to the idea of being married. She might be against the idea of following in her sister's footsteps. Arya doesn't appear to be fond of living the life of a high born lady, taken care of or being told what to do. If Arya were to fall in love, it would be to someone excepts her as-is and allows her to be herself. Gendry met Arya and grew close to her for who she was and their experiences together could bring them closer.
Lila Aryel Evans (1 month ago)
Of Arya is like Leanna then Leanna married a Targaryen so Jon and Daenerys have a baby and there baby could be Arya’s lover
Domenic Galata (1 month ago)
I have a strong feeling that regardless of her fate in the books, the series Arya will survive to the end. She is a certified Bravossi Ninja Soul Stealer and I think she is going to be a One Lil Lady Wrecking Crew. I relate her character to that of Ogami Ito in the Lone Wolf and Cub series. The main source of their characters arcs are choosing the path of vengeance and death after being wronged in every way and dishonoured thoroughly. Both left bodies and pools of blood behind them ( though Lone Wolf certainly tops the kill and blood spill ratio, but Arya seems ready to kill numerous wights and Walkers). Next season cannot come soon enough.
J Rsnbsch (1 month ago)
Arya will survive and sail west of Westeros, much like Tolkien's Ring-bearers leaving Middle-earth.
jeannie341 (2 months ago)
In the show, when Arya told Ned, "That's not me!" - I thought George would make Arya gay. But, after watching Arya and Gendry flirt and protect each other, I thought she would end up with Gendry. Then, I read a paragraph in the book where Arya missed Jon and was saddened by remembering her and Jon finishing each other's sentences - I thought maybe GRRM will flip the script (and our minds) and Arya will somehow end up with Jon. But then all these hidden messages and ending comparisons started to pop up and once again, Aryas ending became questionable... Until lol..Aryas wolf, Nimeria, popped up in season 7. Considering Arya already lived a somewhat warrior life like her hero, the warrior, Nimeria - I believe Arya will live out the rest of her life as head of the Stark family, just like her wolf, Nimeria, is alive and head of her family/ pack.

I think she’ll survive because the one thing that sets her apart from Lyanna is being trained and a part of the Faceless Men. If anyone dies, it’s Sansa and I won’t be surprised if Arya does it. I could see her with Gendry... she definitely liked him.

One of the things I regret about the series is that they couldn't include many of the Aria/Gendry scenes that happened in the book. Like when he sees her in a dress for the very first time and she punches him and how playing around they end up rolling around on the floor wrestling. I hope they end up together in the books and in the tv series.

I see her being the head of the kings guard for Jon (King) and Daenerys (Queen).
