the labo kits are more expensive in australia, it's $100 for the variety kit and $120 for the robot, i'm not sure how it's selling here but if it was even like $70 here i'd consider buying it then....

People are fine about spending more than 200 dollars on a new Lego set but are not willing to spend 70 dollars on a brand new Lego like package but with far more creativity

Hahaha wtf is this bullshit

As someone who bought the variety kit, i can assure you that the LABO is incredibly fun. They are very fun to build and then you get hours of fun playing with it. So far i probably like the fishing rod and motorcycle the most.

Loved your video, but please remember that young kids, like me, are watching and you said the S word several times... please don’t in reviews for children toys... and thank you.

You know what also is fun to build for yourself and has instructions? LEGO! This guys tried copying some ideea in a new material factor...lets see what will live most...some cardboard cutout...or some plastic pieces i still have after 20+ years... I'm sad to see nintendo go that way...i was almost convinced to buy a console by them...but when you take it out of the home you just make it like a console...it's just not worth it for me. I play at home only

I don’t have enough money right now to buy it right now unfortunately. Right now, I don’t have the money to buy cardboard for 70 bucks. That’s sad
Guy Ender (1 month ago)
ok yeah the programmable mode made me quite a bit less skeptical, although that vs lego mindstorms is... ;/ (prices not withstanding).

Well designed?
Grinderson Gear (1 month ago)
I hope this finds a place in the creation kit Market like that thing LEGO has and official creation kits. But I'm worried that because this is Nintendo and this is the switch. its going to be mostly seen as a gaming product which if it remains to be seen as a gaming product and not a creation tool then I fear that its lifespan is going to be short-lived.

Is the LABO hard to assemble? If yes,how hard was it?

make it plastic. the motorcycle one looked cool
NATA5 (1 month ago)
It seems like a steep price point for some cardboard but if you feel like taking the next step, you could just trace and make master copies of the cardboard templates for future use. That way you don't have to worry about the durability of the cardboard. It might not look as nice or be machined as well but it's doable and cardboard isn't that expensive.

Why don't you just take some real cardboard and build one yourself without paying $70-$80 and it's completely free

Jake Hackney (1 month ago)
I am super skeptical It looks like it takes forever to build cardboard is fragile. I have seen people paint art on the pianos and stuff and its beautiful, but that would take even more time and its still made of cardboard.
Miltos Gamer (1 month ago)
Do i think nintendo labo is unique and revolutionary?Yes i do.Do i think its worth it?In my opinion no,but i think it can be a gateway for gaming to evolve into something more than just kinetics and if they can make a project out of it using the VR technology its going to be awesome
jenjen darkness (1 month ago)
Cost more in Australia 😭
TheSpiral01 (1 month ago)
I think i'd 3d print every item you can make from the carboard, if i owned a switch, i thought about it but switched to PS4 instead..
TheSpiral01 (1 month ago)
Why don't they have the items built in the box already, for eighty dollars, there should be enough cardboard for every item to exist in the box.
_Paws_ (1 month ago)
That _nigahiga_ video about this, a few months ago, is awesome inspiration if you can implement the Switch with any design like in that video.
Israel castillo (1 month ago)
Yeah it's fun the first time u build the thing. After that u release that u just wasted 70bucks plus tax and only works for few hours cuz ,u know is cardboard

Tbh I thought that most Nintendo switch game softwares were around £40-£50 in the uk and because of the fact that it's £60 for a variety kit your paying around £40-£50 for the software and about £10-£20 for the cardboard .
Logan MacGyver (1 month ago)
i always thought it was a gimmick tho the piano is pretty cool
Tira Bloodedge (1 month ago)
How long do you think it will take EA to start charging 70$ for cardboard and micropayments for additional pieces?
praxis22 (1 month ago)
Just bought the kit. They had loads of robots, it appears nobody is interested in them.

I'm 15 but I love building sh*t. To anybody that owns LABO: Should I get the variety pack?

Rante Don’t forget the effort that went into coding the game. You’re not just buying what’s in the box
Rante (1 month ago)
70 bucks for the pack and also 80 bucks for the robot, that is 70-80 dollars FOR FUCKING CARDBOARD and the "games" arent worth 60 bucks
Shroom_Kid (1 month ago)
You do realize that the cradboard itself is around 10-20 dollars, and the game is around 60, right?

This is a product that makes me wish I had kids so I can use that as an excuse to play with it.

I wanna see the robot cardboard to have a vr headset and app to increase vr immersion.
noah stuart (1 month ago)
i think even if I was a kid this would be a waste to me
The biggest thing holding labo back is itself, it should have the cardboard separate from the game as well as in a pack, essentially I’m saying all labo game carts should be the same so if i buy the robot kit i should be able to only buy the cardboard for the variety kit for $10 instead of having to pay another $70 for a different game that’s the exact same thing
Eskimo From Mars (1 month ago)
What is it? It’s grown men playing with cardboard because the youtubers need them clicks

BaronBrownB (1 month ago)
This video is 100% Nintendo sponsored bullshit. It cost $300 Switch + $80/$90 Cardboard sets + $25 some silly stickers. Is it really the only/best option to "educate" a kid nowadays?
Vincent Xu (1 month ago)
I kinda wish I was 20 years younger...
Polwigle (1 month ago)
To anyone concerned, yes, you can break the cardboard. You can also FIX the cardboard. I haven't seen anyone mention the 'Discover' mode of the game yet, but having gone through it myself it tells you exactly HOW to fix key parts of the cardboard. (And plastic wouldn't be nearly as easy or fun to customize!)
Luke Mayhew (1 month ago)
I wish they offered the toy-cons individually. I would pay $25 for that piano, but the house and motor-bike just don't interest me.
James Pelletier (1 month ago)
This shit is like 90 - 100 dollars before taxes at 15% in canada
GamingJar (1 month ago)
Apparently some games such as the rhythm game called Deemo could benefit from the piano cardboard set to play it as a piano instead of touching the screen! (They recently only shown a tech demo showing it is possible but is not implementing it yet)

Nick Mitchell (1 month ago)
Built the house with my 4 year old daughter and we had a blast. She has been asking all week to build the fishing pole while playing with the house. Even though it's just cardboard I still think it was worth the money. Its fun to build. Simple but still enjoyable for both my daughter and I.
garrrrrry (1 month ago)
I did buy the “customization set” aka 2 sheets of stickers, 2 sheets of stencils, 2 rolls of tape, and a piece of cardboard that’s only purpose is to fill the remainder of the box. The packaging is extremely misleading and I’m kinda disappointed in Nintendo for that. The box has the rectangle shape of a normal game box but it’s much thicker so the tape can fit. So there’s a literal fuck ton of empty space in this $10 box. It even has the nerve to tell you to use your own tools on the back of the box

something that really pisses me off is when people isolate on the fact that it is $70 for CARDBOARD. They have to look deeper than the material it is made of, and what the targeted demographic is. I saw a video of somebody making and programming an entire guitar to play the song "Rainbow Connection" and the amount of input/output gates, and connections is overwhelmingly crazy. Do you really thing that a 6-12 year old kid can do that kind of stuff? of course it is easier for kids to enjoy with the built in mini games, but people who are older and really devoted to making this stuff can do amazing things. At face value, sure, it is *just cardboard*, but there is something deeper to Labo that most people can't see.

The Robot Kit is so much fun to build
TheSpicyPringle (1 month ago)
For some reason any skepticism or criticism for the labo is followed with the comment "its for the kids, bro" but most of the people hyping it are nintendo fanboys which we can assume for the most part on these videos are adults lmao

Also does no one realize that you can just take the power cord out of the Doc and plug into the bottom of the switch?
BMX!!! (1 month ago)
You know I'm not going to lie I'm pretty young I just recently turned 14 so my opinion might not matter to any of you I don't understand why it's such a big deal fatty cost $70 for one if you look at the prices of other building kits there close to the same price and to people are complaining about it breaking super easily but they realize that they can probably just print off more cardboard sheets from the internet right? Legos are almost exactly the same way we're if you break it and lose the pieces you can just buy the pieces off the internet but no one ever seems to complain about Lego.
andre borges (1 month ago)
i love the concept. And how Nintendo makes things that nobody is willing to do. If they find a way to make it accessible and interactive I think toys like lego and so on catch up with this. It feels that it might be a great way to introduce your kids to gaming.
labelfree904 (1 month ago)
i wouldn't have want it if i was a kid. I would be so scared of fucking up the cardboard.

I'm pretty sure most of the money is for the cartridge though, right? There's no way the cardboard costs that much
