SNES Longplay [207] Marvel Super Heroes - War of The Gems
http://www.longplays.org Played by: xRavenXP This is a longplay game Marvel Super Heroes - War of The Gems played with all the characters. This game covers the history of gems of great power and are being hunted by villains, these villains want to join them to get the blue gem, which originates with the union of all others. Under the supervision of Adam Warlock, our heroes (who are also members of the Avengers): Captain America (Steve Rogers), Spider-Man (Peter Parker) Wolverine (Logan) Iron Man (Anthony "Tony" Stark), and Hulk (Robert Bruce Banner) need to travel the planet to not let these gems fall into the wrong hands. (Note: I put the names of the characters above as the game shows the profile of each one of them but I would have expected the scene introduction five times in a row and it would not be a good idea, but all other scenes of this game are included)

SNES Longplay [153] Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
http://www.longplays.org Played by: Tsunao 'A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...', Part 3. Another one of few(?) video games based on movies that was done right, especially a SNES game. Re-telling or something of Episode VI, where the farmer boy from Episode IV and V (who has a laser sword and knows magic) travels with his sister to rescue the "some dude" from Episode IV and V from some giant slug thingy. Sister gets sexified by giant slug thingy. The "some dude" and the sister are rescued. Later, they go to a forest, where local widelife helps the good guys. The "farmer boy with a laser sword and knows magic" goes into a space station to battle his father (again) and some creepy old man. Elsewhere, the Aluminum Falcon blows up a space station. The furry from Episode IV and V has little to no plot significance but he gets one usage in a stage. Mode 7 is involved. The game is known for the ball-busting difficulty. This game is more forgiving than the other two (more lives to get). Game is played on Brave (Normal)...and I NEVER played this game before. There is a mix of both Star Wars games (character selection from SSW and double jump from TESB). However, Luke is stuck with the lightsaber (and the Force). Everyone else uses guns (Leia uses charge type attacks before she gets captured. She gets a blaster). There is little Plasma use in this game, but it is utilized. Should've used Luke for the Rancor Pit stage, but then Han would get no action. Force Vanish is overpowered. Used it to cheap out on segments and bosses. I REALLY stink at this game.

SNES Longplay [151] Super Star Wars
http://www.longplays.org Played by: xRavenXP A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY! Longplay of game Super Star Wars, released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo based on the movie Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and follows the plot of this movie, although some allowances were made to adapt the story to suit an action game. It is a very good game and that has a certain loyalty to the plot of the film, where our hero Luke Skywalker way to becoming a Jedi Knight following the advice of the Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, his two friends robots (R2-D2 and C3PO) and also travels through space along with Han Solo and Chewie (also playable characters). It is a simple game but very faithful to the film, find games based on movies is very difficult but with merit this could be one of the best and this movie is one of my favorites of all times). Played on Jedi Difficult with core improvements in cutscenes, intro and outro sounds (Bizhawk).

Drunken SNES Gaming - WAR 2410!
And this is why I don't like Turn-Based Strategy. Well that's not true. I do like TBS games when the 'S' is actually a key feature of the gameplay. But it's not here. Not at all. Then there are all the other problems: The AI is far superior for pretty much every unit attribute. The balance is non-existent. The fun factor is negative. The graphics suck ass. And the music is abhorrent. Overall, a really shitty way to end a night. A shitty night. Excuse me while I go and cook my head in the oven.

Super Star Wars (SNES) - Full Game
Super Star Wars to me was a big thing back then. Why? There can never be enough goodness of the original trilogy and goodness it was. Basically, it is more a platformer than a run & gun game. Every few platforming stages there will be a Mode 7 shooting stage in a vehicle and the platforming stages usually end with a large and impressive boss. There are games for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and both follow the same formula, but are even better: the Mode 7 stages have more variety (ATAT + Snow Speeder on Hoth = bricks are shat) and the bosses are more interesting. The game takes the most important parts of the movie and loosely adds them together with stages that resemble the movie scenery. You start as Luke Skywalker and you got a blaster rifle that you can upgrade and get some serious firepower. In the middle of the game you meet Obi Wan Kenobi who gives you your lightsaber, but it sucks so I use the blaster the whole time. Once you meet Han Solo and Chewbacca you can play as them too. They have different running speed and Chewbacca has more health so I use him. The game is quite linear, nothing to explore, but there are hidden items that appear if you shoot specific spots. It is not too hard, but there are some parts that can be a bitch, especially the last stage. You lose so much health in one hit that the hardest difficulty, Jedi, may kick your butt at Jedi speed. I'm not a fan of this kind of difficulty increase. Yea, you should not have too much health at high difficulty, but I want that additional challenge to come from more enemies, different enemy patterns, more projectiles, reduced firepower etc. Just losing more health feels cheap and not creative. So this is done at Brave, which is the medium difficulty setting, but I'll check out Jedi in the sequels that I don't know that well. Why is this game so great you ask? I would say it is because of the sound and music. The music is pretty much taken from the soundtrack and uses the superb SNES audio hardware very well. Just that makes every Star Wars fan happy. Add excellent graphics, very good level design and good use of Mode 7 and you got a winner. And as mentioned the sequels are even better! I remember having finished Super Empire Strikes Back too, but I don't think I've played Super Return of the Jedi. I read a review back then that there is a Rancor fight too - Can't wait to see this and now that I found a way to get good recordings of SNES games there's no excuse to not upload some SNES classics. I'm working on one very long playthrough which may still take some time to get it done, but if you got any requests for games you want to see here, just post a comment and I'll see if I can get it done.

Sadly unreleased in the west, this 20 megabit second outing on Super Nintendo is a far better game than the original game. SNES Longplay [152] Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
http://www.longplays.org Played by: Tsunao "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...", Part 2. Another one of few(?) video games based on movies that was done right, especially a SNES game. Re-telling or something of Episode V, where a farmer boy (who has a laser sword) travels on an ice planet, meets some critter, and learns magic. He then proceeds to fight some dude with a torso Lite-Brite (which may or may not have an ATM) who also has a laser sword (and he is totally not his father. TOTALLY NOT!) Elsewhere, the "some dude" from Episode IV flies a ship and gets frozen. The furry gets little screen time. Mode 7 is involved. The game is known for the ball-busting difficulty. While playing this game, I realized this game feels arcade-y. Game is played on Brave (Normal). This game has some tweaks to gameplay here and there. Everyone has a special ability (Luke uses Force, Han uses Grenades, and Chewie has a Spin attack that sorta grants invincibility frames) and there is a double jump. Plasma, again, is spammed. I cheaped out on two bosses: the Carbon Freezing Generator thingy (had low health and it ISN'T an easy boss.) and Darth Vader (at least he isn't a problem.). No cheats are involved. "Dashing" and attacking activates it or something (I did this all the time on Vader on a physical cart.) I stink at this game. Plasma shot against Vader was intentional. Spammed Freeze on Vader because I remember making Darth Vader pink once. :3

King of the Monsters (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Takara's 1992 fighting game for the Super Nintendo, King of the Monsters. Played through as Astro Guy on the default settings. King of the Monsters was a dream game when it came out - it let you pick a Japanese rubber-suit movie monster (ok, ok, Kailua, if you want the proper term) and fight against other aberrations like yourself while gleefully laying a trail of destruction across the megalopolis that occupies the entirety of the Japanese southern coastline. In many ways, more modern games like the excellent War of the Monsters, and the more recent and even more excellent Godzilla for PlayStation 3 and 4, owe SNK a large debt for laying the foundation with King of the Monsters. At its core, KotM is a wrestling game. You wear down your opponent until they can no longer fight back and pin them, all while being shot at by tanks, fighter jets, or any other military fire that was featured in Rampage. For extra bonus points, you can destroy famous Japanese landmarks, like Tokyo Tower, Kinkakuji, the Daikanransha, and the Tokyo City Hall building in Shinjuku, all of which are pretty neat in their inclusion. The SNES version does make a few sacrifices due to the limited rom space - there are only four monsters instead of six, and only eight stages instead of twelve, but all of the moves are here and the gameplay is pretty faithful to the Neo Geo original. You could certainly do worse for weekend entertainment with a buddy on a SNES than playing this! Just stay away from the Genesis version - blerrgh. ______ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems (SNES) Review - Panels to Pixels
To celebrate the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Josh from Panels to Pixels takes a look at another adaptation of Marvel Comics' Infinity Gauntlet storyline: Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems from 1996. Marvel Super Heroes In War of the Gems is a 2D action platformer video game developed by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, based on the events of Marvel Comics' series, Infinity Gauntlet. In the game's plot, Adam Warlock calls upon Earth's greatest superheroes to seek out the Infinity Gems before they fall into the wrong hands. Although War of the Gems is based on the same storyline as the Capcom arcade game Marvel Super Heroes, and each of the playable characters retains one of the special moves they had in that game, it is not a port; War of the Gems instead features gameplay similar to Final Fight and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. SNES Longplay [303] Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition
http://www.longplays.org Played by: Krendall Both Power Rangers and fighting games were at the height of their popularity in 1995, so a Power Rangers fighting game made sense. The surprise is that the game is surprisingly solid. The characters are fairly unique, all of them have super moves (a fairly new feature in fighters at the time), a unique super bar I haven't seen before or since, and I believe it's the first fighting game to have a survival mode (called trial mode here). In case people don't understand the super meter, I'll explain it. The meter constantly fills, resets, then fills again. Performing a special when the meter is full does a stronger version of the move (think Darkstalkers). Doing three full- power moves puts the player in super mode. While in super mode, all moves are full power and the player can use that character's super move. For anyone wondering, the secret code mentioned after the credits allows the player to use Ivan Ooze in vs. mode.

SNES Metal Marines (JP Militia)
I really love this one. Namco's fine Gundam inspired strategy game has it all. You have to attack the enemy base as you also need to feed off attacks on your own base as well. You build defenses, missile and Metal Marines (mechs), save up your energy and then attack the enemies island, until you vanquish his bases. Like your bases , his are also immune to missile attacks, so you will need Metal Marine infatry to clean up. If you liked Sim City and love mechs, this game is for you, well worth 800 Wii Points.

SNES Metal Warriors
Lucasarts takes on Japanese mech anime! The result is a beautiful game, that although shares amazing similarities with Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator in the west) it has no relation whatsoever (except that Konami published both of the tiles in the west). One really neat feature is that by pressing Select, you pilot could abandon his Metal Warrior (please read "mech") and either hijack an enemy one or just continue playing only on his E.V.A. suit and pistol (trust me, not advised). This feature was later seen again (only in Japan, regretfully) on Squaresoft's Front Mission: Gun Hazard. A unique feature is the 2 player split screen mode, that pitted players against each other, upon selecting their preferred Metal Warrior. And as you can see, presentation on this game was top notch, truly LucasArt style. I really love this game, even if it never made it to Europe.
