Star Wars Episode I Racer (gog mods gameplay test)
This is a test of some mods I had to do to gog.com's Star Wars Episode I Racer--because, as usual, they aren't actually so hot at getting old stuff running well on new hardware. I rattle on a bit about my seemingly insane love of the Phantom Menace movie, while I play perhaps the best Star Wars game ever. (at least #2) Gog's initial release ran at 1280x1024 (harder to change than it should be), in dx9, with MASSIVE FPS drops down into single digits on my goddamn GTX 1080. I'm using DgVoodoo to bring up to DX11, running at 640x480 (internally), with dgvoodoo upscaling to 1920x1080.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Gameplay 1 Mygeeto - Amongst The Ruins
PLAYLIST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMAf0iVDPp8&index=1&list=PLFUut4gninOXqNRjeEjL8CZOVx5E5HgJR Star Wars: Battlefront II is a first and third-person shooter video game developed by Pandemic Studios, and published by LucasArts. The game is the sequel to the successful Star Wars: Battlefront and features new vehicles, characters, game mechanics, maps, and missions. The game was released in PAL regions on October 31, 2005 on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox platforms, and in North America on November 1 of the same year. It was later updated to be backwards compatible for the Xbox 360. It was also released on the PlayStation Store on October 20, 2009 for download on the PSP. Unlike its predecessor, Battlefront II features a more narrative-based campaign, retelling portions of the Star Wars story from the point of view of a veteran Imperial stormtrooper, reminiscing about his tour of duty in service of both the Galactic Republic and as part of the Galactic Empire. Gameplay additions over Battlefront include the use of Jedi, additional game modes, and objective-based space battles. Battlefront II was fairly well received, with the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions scoring in the mid 80s at aggregators GameRankings and Metacritic. The PC version scored slightly lower at both sites, scoring a 76.60% at GameRankings and 78 at Metacritic. The PSP version was the worst received, scoring 70.93% at GameRankings and 69 at Metacritic. Reviewers generally praised the narrative-based story; however, some felt that the upgrades from the original were not enough to merit the price. GameSpy Technology scheduled a shut down across all titles using the service for May 31, 2014, which included Star Wars: Battlefront II for PC, PS2, and Xbox. However, Electronic Arts had prevented this from happening, as they've announced that for a few titles, GameSpy functionality would remain active until June 30, 2014. The extended support offered by EA had ended on July 25, 2014, taking all GameSpy online video games across all platforms, offline. Battlefront II is fundamentally similar to its predecessor, albeit with the addition of new gameplay mechanics. The general objective in most missions is to eliminate the enemy faction. Like Star Wars Battlefront, the game is split into two eras, the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. Players have the ability to choose between six classes during gameplay. Four class types are common to all factions; infantry, heavy weapon, sniper and engineer. In addition to the four standard classes, each faction has two unique classes which unlock by scoring a predetermined number of points. For the Rebellion faction, the Bothan Spy and the Wookie; for the Empire, The Officer and The Dark Trooper; for the Republic, the Commander and the Jet Trooper; and for the CIS, the Magnaguard and the Droideka. Battlefront II also features heroes - a special class that allows the player to control iconic characters from the Star Wars universe. Heroes serve as a bonus to players, and are unlocked by meeting certain criteria, such as earning a certain number of points. Differences between Battlefront II and its predecessor include the ability to sprint and the ability to roll forwards. Campaign Whereas Star Wars: Battlefront 's campaign featured missions dependent on the chosen faction, Battlefront II contains only one campaign, called Rise of the Empire, which is found in every version of the game except the PSP. This set of missions is presented as the narration of a veteran of the 501st Legion, known as Vader's Fist, beginning with an attack on the planet Mygeeto during the Clone Wars and ending with the assault on Hoth as depicted in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. There are a total of 18 missions, four of which are optional space missions. The PSP version of Battlefront II does not feature the Rise of the Empire campaign. Instead it features three single-player Challenge modes; Imperial Enforcer, Rogue Assassin, and Rebel Raider. In Imperial Enforcer the player is sent to eliminate indigenous species on several given planets, such as Gungans on Naboo and Ewoks on Endor.[8] Rogue Assassin requires the player to eliminate all Imperial officers on a given sets of planets. Bonus points are awarded for any other kills. Finally, Rebel Raider tasks the player with locating specific objects in a map and returning them to a designated drop point, similar to Capture the flag

Star Wars Racer Windows 10 PC gameplay. Abyss
EDIT: As of 01/05/18. This is now available as an official and stable release over on GOG (Good old games) GO buy it and enjoy :) The nostalgia is strong with this one!! Finally, somebody amazing has created a 64 bit installer for this old gem of a game. This video shows me playing as Neva Kee on the Abyss invitational track, probably the hardest track to master in the game and a lot of fun. The game runs well enough, but does have a few quirks which seem to be different for everybody. This is the first time I have played since the days of the N64 and I loved playing through it again. It may not be as pretty as most modern games, but you really don't notice at these kind of speeds. Most of what you see is in your peripheral vision and just adds to the sense of speed so it isn't as bad as you may expect. I'd say this game has stood the test of time very well and I highly recommend anybody that missed it all those years ago to try it out.... What I wouldn't give for an HD remake. There are a few niggles to mention. Mostly in my case it was graphical glitches which you can see a few of in this video. Some questionable hit detection which leads to a few unexplained deaths and some control issues such as me having to brake every time I want to disengage the boost for instance. And the game takes about 7 minutes to start up initially. It is however worth the wait. The biggest issue I have had however is a lack of control in the zero G tunnels. Only the roll axis functions which means I die constantly due to the rocks etc that litter these tunnels. Unfortunately, I then spawn inside these rocks and the game has to be re-set. This led to a huge amount of frustration on race 6 and it took me hours to finally progress. I did it eventually by racing so quickly to get a huge lead, and then slowing to a crawl near the rocks. I love this game and I'm very happy to have it working again on my system despite it's quirks, If you would like to play it again on a modern system, head over to this link, download the installer and have fun... http://www.play-old-pc-games.com/2013/12/02/star-wars-episode-i-racer/ Happy racing! .

Five of the Best Star Wars PC Games
Best Star Wars games for PC. PC games have long been the beating heart of Star Wars. Regardless of being Star Wars PC games, these games are considered to be the best PC games in their genre. We reminisce over the past few decades of Star Wars games on the PC. I’ve picked out my five of the best Star Wars PC games. One main advantage to choosing a list of Star Wars PC games is the fact that the PC has so many exclusive Star Wars titles. Practically every great Star Wars game is a near-PC exclusive. In the late 90s though, two previously-exclusive N64 Star Wars games, Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron were both curiously ported to the PC. Now, it’ll be a cold day on Mustafar before I say Shadows of the Empire is a good game (the PC version is not completely horrible), but Rogue Squadron 3D is awesome! Sporting practically identical gameplay to the N64 game but with better graphics and none of that horrible slowdown that plagued the original. Hokey graphics and ancient gameplay are no match for a SideWinder joystick at your side, kid. Playing Rogue Squadron with a proper flight stick is fantastic, and feels like the way it was meant to be played. Just don’t get cocky. When it comes to first-person shooters, Star Wars doesn’t have a lot to choose from. Dark Forces is consistently one of my favourites, but the best Star Wars FPS is Star Wars Republic Commando. Republic Commando is a tidy FPS with just enough features to help it stand out. A generous difficulty curve and a pretty decent story shunts Star Wars: Battlefront off the list and makes Republic Commando the definitive Star Wars shooter. If there’s one game genre that is absolutely over-served when it comes to Star Wars PC games, it’s RTS and strategy games. Star Wars has everything, in one PC game or another. My personal pick is Star Wars: Supremacy. Known as Star Wars: Rebellion to our friends in the colonies, Supremacy is pretty much the Civilisation of Star Wars games. Maybe it’s not objectively as good as Star Wars: Empire at War, but I played loads of this PC game back in the day. You can’t make a list of best Star Wars PC games without mentioning Knights of the Old Republic. KOTOR is truly both a fantastic RPG and a great Star Wars game. KOTOR introduced elements of the Expanded Universe which are still held dear by a lot of Star Wars fans to this day. On any given Sunday you can fire up KOTOR and play the whole game through again. Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance is truly the definitive Star Wars PC space shooter game. A PC-exclusive, X-Wing Alliance was the last entry into the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series and the last great Star Wars space combat game. Featuring a full voiceover, excellent graphics and realistic space physics, X-Wing Alliance took the X-Wing series to its logical conclusion. There would be no “Five of the Best Star Wars PC Games” if for so long, these Star Wars games weren't so consistently good. This is a dangerous time for us, when we will be tempted by the Dark Side of preordering. But it’s up to us as fans to demand more from our Star Wars games, before parting with our money. The future holds great things for Star Wars games.

CLASSIC: Star Wars: Battlefront II
I love this game so much that EA probably gets jealous. Seriously, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was way better than the new Battlefront that will need tons of DLC to make it even close to this one. Space Battles, Bots, Galactic Conquest, Clone Era, you name it. This game had EVERYTHING. PC gameplay with mods.

Five of the Best Cancelled Star Wars Games // Battlefront 3, KotOR 3, 1313 and more!
What are the best canceled Star Wars games? Over the years some brilliant Star Wars games have been cancelled before getting finished. Here’s my five of the best canceled Star Wars video games. Star Wars: Darth Maul: Battle of the Sith Lords Red Fly were given zero direction with the cancelled Darth Maul Star Wars game other than the title, and the fact that it would be about Darth Maul and potentially Darth Talon. In 2015, Dan Blorth confirmed in a Reddit AMA that Red Fly are going to re-option an updated Darth Maul Star Wars game to EA. Star Wars Imperial Commando If you saw my top Star Wars PC games, you’ll know I rate Republic Commando. The canceled sequel game, Star Wars Imperial Commando, was due to be set around the time of Order 66, with Delta Squad tracking down and exterminating the remains of the Jedi. Star Wars KotoR III Probably the most hotly-discussed game in the Star Wars fandom is Knights of the Old Republic. Knights of the Old Republic 3 was in its early stages when LucasArts hit one of their infamous roadbumps (possibly related to the obvious rushing out of KotOR 2), which led to Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 3 being cancelled. Star Wars Battlefront 3 Star Wars Battlefront 2 was an absolute game-changer. LucasArts never actually confirmed that Battlefront 3 was in production. Battlefront 3 took over two years to complete and ran massively over budget. LucasArts canceled Star Wars Battlefront 3 in late 2008. Star Wars 1313 1313 was due to be a stonker. The game looked like Star Wars: Uncharted and I for one was champing at the bit to have a play. Star Wars 1313 got cancelled around the Disney buyout to pave the way for Episode VII and the new raft of content that naturally accompanies such a thing. This video was originally uploaded to celebrate our 1000 Subscribers milestone. Thanks to everyone who's helped us grow even further since. May the Force be with you all. x

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005) PC Review
Here’s a Second Wind PC review on Battlefront 2 Classic 2005. In 2005, Battlefront 2 was a triumph and backs up my theory that 2005 was the greatest year in the history of PC games. Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single player campaign is narrated by a retired Imperial veteran, reminiscing over his tours of duty as an elite clone trooper during the glory days of the Republic. Battlefront 2 Classic 2005's narrative follows the campaigns of the 501st clone trooper legion. Through the eyes of our Battlefront 2 Classic clone trooper we’re shown the formation of the Empire. It's about our character starting as a good guy and kind of becoming a bad guy somewhere along the way. Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 is probably the most underrated story in a Star Wars PC game. Pandemic were told to literally shoehorn a single-player story in, but they smashed Classic Battlefront 2 out of the park. The core focus of Battlefront 2 Classic 2005 is building on the basic game modes which were present in the first Star Wars Battlefront PC game, which again took their cues from DICE’s Battlefield games. By and large though each mission is made up of your usual deathmatch, conquest or capture the flag gameplay. Classic Star Wars Battlefront 2 PC game came out in 2005 but I think the gameplay still holds up. The controls are still really tight, the balancing is still really good and the range of playable characters keeps it feeling fresh all the way through. 2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2's campaign only has about half a dozen space battles spread over the whole timeline but every one is a treat. There's also a mode called Galactic Conquest, which is kind of like Star Wars Risk or a cut down version of Empire at War. Battlefront 2 Classic 2005 features Scott Lawrence’s penultimate performance as Darth Vader after his ten-year run of voicing Vader in every Star Wars game. The star of the show though is the excellent Temuera Morrison. Battlefront 2 2005 PC game is his crowning glory. He’s also the voice of the nameless clone veteran who narrates the story. His monologues and soliloquy really are good. Morrisson adds a weight of legitimacy to Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005's production and makes it feel like a canon “missing episode”. Again, Battlefront 2 Classic was his penultimate Star Wars outing. Morrison wouldn’t appear again until the new DICE Star Wars Battlefront some 10 years later. Battlefront 2 original 2005 is still available to buy on digital storefronts. The PC version of classic Battlefront 2 is for sale on both GOG and Steam. Servers for the PC version of Battlefont II 2005 support Steam and GOG cross-play. Battlefront 2 classic has all the heroes, all the maps unlocked from the start. Star Wars Battlefront 2 Classic may not have some of the complexity of the more recent games but there’s none of the trappings of the modern AAA scene, you get it all with no hurdles. You can get Battlefront 2 classic PC looking really nice. My recommended mods are Battlefront Evolved and HarrisonFog’s HD Graphics Mods and Rezzed Maps. With these running, Battlefront 2 Classic 2005 looks a damn sight better than any PC game from 2005. In 2005, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a riproaring success. It was a phenomenal sequel and was instrumental in bringing the online shooter to console gamers. I can't recommend Battlefront 2 2005 enough if you're looking for a fun online shooter OR a decent single player experience. We might not get a Star Wars game like Battlefront 2 2005 ever again. But the fact is, nobody can take Battlefront 2 Classic away from us. The 2005 Battlefront 2 will stay as our gold standard for Star Wars online PC games and it’s a solid purchase no matter who you are. Battlefront 2 Classic 2005 is £7.50 on Steam and GOG at the time of writing. There is so much content in this game for that money, it's well worth the money. Battlefront 2 Classic is usually in the Star Wars bundles and you can usually find it heavily discounted when the Steam sales start up, so if you don't buy it today put on your wish list and wait for it to go cheap. Or you could probably track down a physical copy for pennies. Play Battlefront 2 Classic 2005 on your PC, I do not think you'll be disappointed. Keep checking back for more Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 content. http://www.twitter.com/thegameshowuk http://www.instagram.com/thegameshowuk http://www.facebook.com/thegameshowuk http://www.thegameshow.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------ "Nights" by Midwest Collective is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. https://midwestcollective.bandcamp.com/album/odyssey

http://www.gog.com/ http://truepcgaming.com/ Adam Ames and Phil Cordaro talk with Marketing and PR Manager for GOG.com, Trevor Longino about all things digital distribution. Trevor also speaks on his discomfort with massively discounted PC games and how GOG researchers deal with finding info on old titles. Adam asks about the difficulty convincing developers to embrace DRM-free while Phil goes on a mini-rant regarding regional pricing and why GOG seems to be alone in global flat-rate pricing. In addition, Trevor talks a bit about the shift in bringing indies and modern titles to GOG. Plus much, much more. Oh yes, according to Trevor, Carmageddon is still coming to GOG soon.

Of course, at the end of the day all that matters is whether the game is good or not. But when your CGI trailers are this good it's hard for people not to get hyped even when they know they're not representative of the game. We were searching through our old trailer archives and found these gems again. I'm sure most of you have seen these already, but we wanted to make sure to have them in our own library of videos. The Curse of Monkey Island ► Hilarious 1997 Point & Click Game! - [Abandonware Adventures]
Abandonware Adventures! - Full playlist: http://goo.gl/vslwSk Just as I played some of The Curse of Monkey Island as 'abandonware', no less than 4 days later it comes to GOG.com and Steam! Well this is the first Monkey Island game that I played and spent countless hours playing. I love it and the visual style is amazing and still looks good, not to mention it was one of the funniest games I played growing up. Hope you enjoy the gameplay! Abandonware Adventures is a format where I find a good old game that is no longer for sale and play some of it. These are often PC games from my childhood that have been abandoned and I think need to be looked at again. The Curse of Monkey Island is no longer abandonware and is available at GOG.com https://www.gog.com/game/the_curse_of_monkey_island Or on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/730820/The_Curse_of_Monkey_Island/ 'Abandonware' is not a legal term but I always try to source games from Archive.org, a website that is a recognised public library and has a DMCA exception. http://archive.org/about/dmca.php .~ ► Follow me on Twitch to watch live! http://www.twitch.tv/GamerZakh ♣ Join the Community Discord! https://discord.gg/GamerZakh ♥ Want to help support what I do? Developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts, the game was released for the Xbox on July 15, 2003, and for Microsoft Windows on November 19, 2003. The game was later ported to Mac OS X, iOS, and Android by Aspyr, and it is playable on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One via their respective backwards-compatibility features. The story of Knights of the Old Republic takes place almost 4000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, where Darth Malak, a Dark Lord of the Sith, has unleashed a Sith armada against the Republic. The player character, as a Jedi, must venture to different planets in the galaxy in order to defeat Malak. Players choose from three character classes and customize their characters at the beginning of the game, and engage in round-based combat against enemies. Through interacting with other characters and making plot decisions, the alignment system will determine whether the player's character aligns with the light or dark side of the Force. The game was directed by Casey Hudson, designed by James Ohlen, and written by Drew Karpyshyn. LucasArts proposed developing a game tied to Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, or a game set thousands of years before the prequels. The team chose the latter as they thought that they would have more creative freedom. Ed Asner, Ethan Phillips, and Jennifer Hale were hired to perform voices for the game's characters, while the soundtrack was composed by Jeremy Soule. Announced in 2000, the game was delayed several times before its release in July 2003. The game received critical acclaim upon release, with critics applauding the game's characters, story, and sound. It was nominated for numerous awards, and is considered one of the best games ever made. A sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, developed by Obsidian Entertainment at BioWare's suggestion, was released in 2004. The series' story continued with the 2011 release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, a MMORPG developed by BioWare. But after the third or so level, Kyle Katarn returns to his home planet of Sulon. Turns out his old man was pally with a Jedi Knight and had been keeping hold of his old lightsaber. He gifts this lightsaber to Kyle and tells him to “use it for good”. Kyle then starts to develop Jedi knight powers. Yeah, the Jedi Knight PC game is an early part of the EU and it’s never been explicitly explained how the Force works, but I’m pretty sure it’s a bit more complex than “have lightsaber, will travel”. I mean, there’s not even any midichlorians. Dark Forces II Jedi Knight is set in the wake of the destruction of the second Death Star and pits Kyle against the Dark Jedi, a sect of evil Jedi knight equivalents who formed in the power vacuum left after the death of the Emperor. The leader of The Dark Jedi, Jerec, is looking for the Valley of the Jedi, a place of unimaginable power. A place that Kyle’s dad used to have a map to. In customary fashion, Kyle travels from planet to planet, tracking down Jerec and his Dark Jedi, occasionally fighting one of them as an end-of-level boss, along the way becoming the titular Jedi Knight. Each Dark Jedi in the PC game has a different fighting style and while you might try and listen to the voiceover telling you their strengths and weaknesses, the easiest method is just to strafe around them whacking them with your lightsaber. Like Dark Forces before it, Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight features huge levels, again with no clear level design. You’ll be flapping about with no real sense of direction, and will more often than not stumble upon the right way to go, thinking you’re off-piste. Guns from the first PC game are present and a few extra ones to boot, complete with alt-fire modes. The game massively changes on that third level though, with the lightsaber and force powers taking centre stage. For the first time we’re offered a light or a dark path, each with their own power sets and even a branching story. One thing that this Star Wars PC game is well-remembered for is the cutscenes. There was a period in the 90s where game devs thought live-action FMV was a good idea. It’s dodgy now but LucasArts were trying to make Jedi Knight feel like a real episode in the Star Wars saga. Good on them for trying. Jedi Knight is a decent sequel to Dark Forces, but in my opinion is more of a stepping stone to a better era of games. As with all games on Second Wind, this is available to purchase on GOG and Steam, links below. None other then the classic Star Wars: Battlefront 2. This game defined many childhoods in the PS2 era. We played this on the PC with some HD mods. It didn't help the cutscenes much, but the gameplay looks a lot better. Sorry, but we HAD to change the classic John Williams score in the intro section. The song is beyond copyrighted, and we could not take the risk posting the vid that song. We used the Force Unleashed theme to keep it in the Star Wars universe. I know that is a big disappointment; the song is so iconic. but we had to do it. These older game movies are fun to do because of the nostalgia factor, but also tough to edit because they are not nearly as cinematic as new games. As awesome as this game is, it follows the traditional mission objectives layout of older shooters. Not much story happens in between the beginning and end cutscenes, other than completing the laid out objectives. But that's fine, still great, just not how it is now. Always we included cutscenes, gameplay and dialogue to make one fluid game movie. We hope you enjoy! Gameplay by Yofatdaddyyy Edited by Yofatdaddyyy Other than that, this game was a blast to play again.
